WE’RE ON THE HOME STRETCH TO SPRING BREAK! THE ABCUSD JAZZ SHOWCASE IS TODAY AND THE ABCUSD DRUMLINE/GUARD SHOWCASE ON WEDNESDAY! WINTER GUARD WILL BE PERFORMING THIS SATURDAY AT THE WGASC COMPETITION AT ARCADIA HS. RAFFLE BASKET ITEMS/MONEY IS DUE THIS WEDNESDAY.

The Gahr High School Concert Band and Wind Ensemble gave outstanding performances this past Thursday at the SCSBOA Festival held at Santiago High School. Both ensembles earned a “Unanimous Superior” – the highest possible rating by the adjudicators! In addition, each group also received a “Superior” rating in sight-reading. The bands have come a long way, and we are proud of their effort, positive attitudes, and improvement!

Congratulations to Winter Guard on earning 2nd place at the WGASC Downey competition and 3rd place at the WGASC Ayala show! On Saturday morning, the Winter Guard also supported and watched Ross and Tetzlaff, and had a fun mingle with cookies and gifts for one another. Thank you to all the parents for all their hard work behind the scenes this past weekend!

Indoor Percussion had an outstanding weekend, with a focused rehearsal on Saturday followed by a strong performance at SCPA Prelims on Sunday. The group earned 2nd place in their round and 3rd place overall in Scholastic Open out of 25 groups, continuing their strong momentum this season.Based on their performance and score, Indoor Percussion has officially qualified for SCPA Championship Finals on Saturday, April 11th at the Coussoulis Arena at California State University, San Bernardino – a huge accomplishment that reflects their continued growth and progress. We would like to thank all of the parents and alumni who supported the program this weekend. We are incredibly grateful for your time, energy, and dedication.

Please note that due to the ABC Jazz Showcase, the full Indoor Percussion (both battery and front ensemble) will have practice today from 6th period until 4:30PM. All winds and percussionists have Combined Band rehearsal tomorrow, Tuesday from 3:30-6:00PM to work on our new Area Concert music!

PARENT UPDATE

Thank you to all the parents who came to last Wednesday’s Parent Booster Meeting! We had a great turnout and went through important upcoming events and fundraisers, including our annual MATTRESS FUNDRAISER happening on Saturday, May 2nd! We would also like to thank everyone who supported the program by going to Yogurtland last week. Please join us at our next monthly Booster Parent Meeting on Wednesday, April 29th at 6:30PM in the Band Room.

ANNUAL GIFT BASKET RAFFLE – DONATIONS DUE THIS WEDNESDAY

We need your help to make one of our biggest spring fundraisers a success!

At the Gahr Area Concert on Wednesday, May 6th, we will be raffling off several themed gift baskets – including a “Disney Day” basket featuring a Family 4-Pack of Disneyland tickets!

👉 EVERY student is expected to contribute at least one item
Each section has been assigned a theme to help build their basket. You may also donate cash or gift cards, which allows us to purchase larger featured items (like the Disneyland tickets). Please see the flyer below.

ABCUSD JAZZ SHOWCASE TODAY!

The ABCUSD Jazz Showcase is TODAY, Monday, March 30th at Artesia HS starting at 5:30PM! Hear all of the middle school and high school jazz bands in the ABC Unified School District. This showcase is FREE, but bring money because the Artesia Boosters will be selling concessions.

Gahr HS Jazz I and II student call time is 6:00PM wearing jazz concert attire. Make sure you bring your instrument, music, and everything you need to perform.

ABCUSD DRUMLINE & GUARD “SPRING SHOWCASE” THIS WEDNESDAY 4/1

Join us this Wednesday, April 1st for the 2026 ABCUSD Drumline & Guard Spring Showcase in the Gahr HS Gym! This is a great opportunity to see all of the incredible middle school and high school Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion ensembles in the ABC Unified School District in one night!

Admission is FREE! We will have merchandise and concessions available for purchase – including nachos, churros, candy, chips, cup o’ noodles, Thai tea with boba, and soda/water.

Doors open at 6:00PM and the first performance begins at 6:30PM. Please note that performances will run continuously in the listed order with no set times for each group. This will keep the event moving with less “dead time” between performances. Please plan on arriving early and stay for the full showcase to cheer on every group. Come out, support, and enjoy a great night of performances!

LAST LUNCHTIME LEADERSHIP CLASS THIS WEDNESDAY!

Our Lunchtime Leadership Classes have been going great, with lots of thoughtful discussions and strong engagement from everyone. This Wednesday, April 1st is our final session, and we’re looking forward to finishing strong.

The senior Graduation Stole is a special recognition of your dedication, commitment, and consistency throughout your time in band or color guard. It represents four years of hard work, growth, and being part of something bigger than yourself.

Seniors are eligible to receive a stole if they have been enrolled in band or color guard for all 8 semesters and have maintained a 2.0 GPA or higher each semester.

The cost of the stole is $50, and payment is due by Friday, April 17.

2027 ORLANDO TRIP!
