Jazz II
Jazz Ensemble II is a performance ensemble designed for developing jazz musicians who are building skills in jazz style, interpretation, and improvisation. Students perform a variety of jazz genres including swing, Latin, funk, and contemporary styles while strengthening foundational musicianship and ensemble skills. All students are welcome to join, and no experience is required.
The ensemble emphasizes learning jazz fundamentals such as reading jazz charts, understanding harmony, developing time feel, and beginning to intermediate improvisation. Jazz II serves as an important training ground for students looking to deepen their jazz experience and prepare for advanced performance opportunities within the program.
Jazz Ensemble II meets during zero period and begins promptly at 7:17 AM. Students are expected to come prepared, participate fully in rehearsals, and attend all required performances. Consistent attendance is essential, particularly during rehearsals and run-throughs leading up to performances. All students must also be enrolled in another daytime performance ensemble (Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, or Percussion).
