The Jazz Band will be performing this Thursday at an ASCA "Every Student Succeeding" Recognition Banquet, representing the districts of ABC, Bellflower, Compton, Downey, El Monte Union, Lynwood, Norwalk-La Mirada, Paramount, and Torrance! We will loading the bus immediately after school to travel to the Grand Event Center (4101 E. Willow St. Long Beach, CA 90815). Please wear all black attire and the jazz band ties. We will have rehearsal Monday-Thursday to prepare for the performance. Thank you!
ROSS MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
Thank you so much to the students who coached students from Ross today! We will have another mentorship day this Friday, March 16th from 3-4:30PM at Ross Middle School. We would like at least one student per section to help and this counts towards volunteer hours. Thank you for helping to build a strong relationship with our main feeder school!
DISTRICT BAND FESTIVAL NEXT WEEK
Next week the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band have District Band Festival at Whitney High School! We have one last week of rehearsal with Wind Ensemble Tuesday 3-5:30PM and Concert Band Thursday 3-5:30PM. Next week we will have a final rehearsal & run-through for both groups on Tuesday from 3-5:30PM. The week of District Festival, Wind Ensemble performs on Wednesday, March 21st and Concert Band performs Thursday, March 22nd. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from Whitney High School. Make sure you have your all black concert attire so we can look great as well!
WIND ENSEMBLE SCSBOA FESTIVAL @ BELLFLOWER HS
The Wind Ensemble will be performing at SCSBOA Festival on Thursday, March 29th at Bellflower High School! We will have a run-through in the Band Room after school from 3-4 p.m. Call time is 6:00 p.m. in the Band Room in full concert attire to load the bus, stop at In-N-Out for dinner (bring money), and then to Bellflower for the performance and clinic. Festival is free and open to the public; and you are cordially invited to share with us the intellectual, aesthetic, and social growth that is gained through musical performance! We are on last at 8:45PM; the clinic starts at 9:15PM (spectators are welcome to watch); and we should be back at Gahr approximately 10:15PM.
Congratulations to the Winter Guard on another successful Popcornopolis sale! The guard sold a total of $2,821 of popcorn, raising $1,391 for individual accounts. The top seller was Danae who will earn a $50 Pink gift card with a total of $997 in sales! Popcorn is tentatively scheduled to be delivered this Friday. Way to go!!

We’re 2 weeks away from our Winter Guard trip to the WGI San Diego Regional show on March 24th and 25th! This is a great opportunity for our guard to perform and represent Gahr on the national stage. WIND ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE TRIP TO SAN DIEGO
The Gahr High School Wind Ensemble will be traveling to San Diego on May 4th and 5th for a SCSBOA Band and Orchestra Festival! This will be a 2-day, 1-night trip and includes hotel, motor coach transportation, and group activities. The total cost of the trip is $275 per student (4 to a room). The 2nd Payment of $100 was due last Friday for all participating students.
HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD DINNER & DANCE!
SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, May 19th at Liberty Community Plaza! This year's theme for our annual dinner and dance is "Hooray for Hollywood!" We will have a raffle and great gift baskets, including a family 4-pack of tickets to Disneyland! We'll be asking all families to donate a basket item and to sell at least two tickets to the dance.
