ABCUSD HONOR BAND CONCERT THIS THURSDAY!
The 2025 ABCUSD Honor Band Concert is this Thursday, February 12th, at 7:00PM in the Grace Hu Auditorium at Whitney High School! This year, we have 46 Gahr students representing us. Both the high school and middle school honor bands have been working hard to prepare an incredible performance, and you won’t want to miss it! Admission is free, but seating is limited, so be sure to arrive early.
If you are in the Honor Band, our last rehearsal with Dr. Lundahl is today, Tuesday, February 10th from 6:00-8:30PM at Whitney HS. Please show up by 5:30PM to help set up stands, chairs, and percussion on stage. CALL TIME on Thursday is 5:15PM wearing ALL BLACK CONCERT ATTIRE in the Whitney HS Band Room.
WINTER GUARD – CHINO HILLS PREVIEW SHOW THIS SUNDAY
The Winter Guard will be performing our 2026 production, “String Theory,” this Sunday, February 15th at Chino Hills High School! All parents are expected to help with equipment, props, and carpool students. Do not assume your child has a ride. PARENTS: Please click here to help out on Sunday!

ORLANDO TRIP MEETING – tuesday 2/17
We invite all current 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students and parents to attend our Orlando Trip Meeting on Tuesday, February 17th at 7:00PM in the Band Room. We will be traveling to Orlando next year during Spring Break, and students will have the opportunity to perform and visit Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and Epic Universe.
WINTER GUARD @ WGI SAN DIEGO NEXT WEEKEND
The Winter Guard will be participating in the WGI Regional Winter Guard competition held at Del Norte High School in San Diego on February 21-22, 2026. This event brings together top Winter Guards from across the region and gives our students the opportunity to compete while also watching some of the best groups in the nation, including World Class ensembles.
This is an overnight trip with a cost of $200 per student. Payment may be made by cash, check payable to Gahr Band Boosters, or click here to pay online. The cost includes one night of lodging and meals throughout the weekend; students may bring additional money for snacks or food at the competition site.
Students must stay in the hotel with other students. We are asking for all students to carpool with the same students that will be in their hotel room. We ask that students stay together as a group for the entire weekend. It is great that a number of parents and families will be coming to support, but we ask that you please do not pull your child away from the rest of the group.
We’re looking forward to a fun-filled and rewarding trip!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who donated last fall through Fan Pledge to support the Gahr Instrumental Music Program. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we were able to reach our fundraising goal and get the equipment trailer wrapped.
JAZZ BAND SEMESTER DONATION
We are requesting a $50 semester donation from all Jazz Band students to help cover the cost of music, coaches, and jazz festivals. Please turn in cash, a check made payable to “Gahr Band Boosters,” or click here to pay online. This is due no later than Friday, February 20th. Your support ensures a great experience for our jazz musicians – thank you!
ATTENDANCE COMMUNICATION UPDATE
To ensure fairness, responsibility, and consistency moving forward, the following Attendance Communication Policy will now be enforced, effective immediately:
Excused Absences require a minimum of 2 weeks advance notice.
Medical appointments, school events, and family commitments must be scheduled outside rehearsals and performances whenever possible.
Same-day or last-minute messages are not acceptable and will be considered unexcused unless it is a verifiable emergency.
Emergency absences must be communicated by a parent/guardian in writing or an email before the rehearsal begins.
Unexcused absences may result in loss of set drill spot, alternate status, or performance ineligibility.
Excused Absences (with documentation & 2 weeks notice)

Family wedding (immediate family only)
Religious holidays
School-sponsored, graded event (conflicting class performance/competition)

Thank you to the many students and families who already communicate responsibly and plan ahead.
