The ABC District Band Festival is this Wednesday, March 13th at Whitney High School! At the festival, each ensemble is evaluated by a panel of highly-trained adjudicators and receives ratings, commentary, and a clinic. This is our main dissemination of the year and is our most important opportunity for us to share our knowledge with others, as well as receive feedback to become even better musicians.

On Wednesday, make sure you take your instrument, music, and anything else you need for the performance right after school. STUDENT CALL TIME IS 4:25PM AT WHITNEY HS WEARING ALL BLACK CONCERT ATTIRE. Remember, we are also judged on how professionally we are dressed, so please make sure you have long black socks, black dress shoes, solid black dress pants, and a solid black long-sleeve button-up dress shirt. Concert Band performs at 5:30PM and Wind Ensemble is at 8:00PM. The boosters will be providing pizza for students between performances. Both groups are expected to watch and support each other.

Our final, mandatory rehearsal before festival is this Tuesday, March 12th. Concert Band will be rehearsing from 3:30-6:00PM and Wind Ensemble from 6:30-8:30PM. STUDENTS MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE OR THEY MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE PERFORMANCE. Concert Band will be doing a final run-through (full winds and percussion) on Wednesday morning, March 13th at 7:45AM in the Band Room.

The ABC District Festival is FREE and open to the public! Family and friends are also encouraged to watch the clinic portion as well (please be quiet and respectful when watching the performances in the hall and observing the clinic). Please come support your son or daughter and hear what they have been working on!

VARSITY GUARD @ WGI POWER REGIONAL 3/16-17

The Varsity Winter Guard will be competing this coming weekend, Saturday, March 16th and Sunday March 17th, at the WGI Palm Desert Power Regional! Gahr is currently scheduled to perform at 2:04PM in Prelims on Saturday. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE CAUGHT UP ON YOUR WINTER GUARD DONATIONS SO WE ARE ABLE TO PAY FOR YOUR COSTUME.

All parents are expected to help with equipment and props. We will have two 15 passenger vans for students to carpool. This is NOT an overnight trip. The vans will return to Gahr Saturday night. We ARE able to leave our uhaul at Palm Desert HS on Saturday night.

PACIFIC SYMPHONY YOUTH WIND ENSEMBLE TOMORROW 3/11

3RD DRUMLINE & GUARD DONATION PAST DUE

The 3rd donation for Indoor Percussion was due Wednesday 3/6 and the 3rd donation for Winter Guard was due Thursday 3/7. This is critical so we are able to pay for instructors, costumes, and production costs. STUDENTS MUST BE CAUGHT UP WITH OUTSTANDING DONATIONS TO RECEIVE THEIR COSTUME. WE NEED TO PAY OUR INSTRUCTORS FOR THE TIME THEY HAVE ALREADY WORKED AND CANNOT DO THAT WITHOUT YOUR DONATION.
