If you already ordered the polo shirt, in band camp, we will be ordering and receiving these in the next few weeks. SAVE THE DATE! OUR "TOTALLY 80s DANCE" IS ON SATURDAY, MAY 7TH FROM 6PM TO 11PM AT GAHR HIGH SCHOOL!! Tickets will be just $20 per person and include dinner and dancing to the best hits of the 80s! Please join us this Wednesday at 6:30PM for a committee meeting in the Band Room. This will be a huge fundraiser for the Gahr Instrumental Music Program!
We're selling premium quality nuts from J & N Products perfect for gift giving or baking! Each bag of nuts you sell will earn you $5.00 towards your account. This can help fulfill outstanding obligations or to start fundraising for winter guard or indoor percussion. 8TH GRADE SHOWCASE - THIS TUESDAY 3/8
This Tuesday is Gahr's 8th Grade Showcase Night! We need all students to be at the Band Room from 5-8PM to help out. Wear your blue Gahr Marching Gladiator hoodies / Color Guard jacket and jeans. Jazz Band has two performances in the MPR - one at 5:45PM and one at 6:45PM. Indoor Percussion will have an open rehearsal during the normal time from 5-8:30PM. Color Guard will be demoing flags and recruiting 8th graders. Everyone else will be helping with an information booth, answering questions, or walking around passing out flyers. This is a huge recruiting opportunity for the program!
INDOOR PERCUSSION UPDATE
Indoor Percussion has several performances this week. On Friday, the Indoor Percussion Ensemble will be performing Movements 1 & 2 of "The Voyage" for a school Pep Rally in full uniform. We also have two competitions this weekend - an ADLA show on Saturday at Marina HS and an SCPA show on Sunday at Monrovia HS. The drumline parents are planning a fun tailgate party on Saturday in the Marina High School parking lot. Stay tuned for the full schedule and itineraries.
DRUMLINE YOUTH BASKETBALL PERFORMANCE - NEXT MONDAY 3/14
Indoor percussion battery will be playing on Monday (3/14) at 6PM for the City of Cerritos Youth Basketball awards night. Wear 2016 drumline show shirts and jeans. Make sure you learn parts for the cadences, including cymbal parts!
ABCUSD BAND FESTIVAL NEXT WEEK - NEXT WEDNESDAY 3/16
On Wednesday, March 16th, both our Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will be performing at ABCUSD Band Festival in the Whitney High School Performing Arts Center! Admission is free. Parents, please come to support your student and listen to what they’ve been working on! Concert Band has a 4:00PM call time with a 5PM performance; Wind Ensemble has a 6:00PM call time with a 7:00PM performance. Concert attire is all black - solid, long sleeve, collared, black, button-up dress shirt, black slacks (no jeans), black socks, black belt, and black dress shoes. Ladies may wear a long, black concert dress/gown (no skirts), black flats/shoes, and appropriate jewelry. Following each band’s on stage performance, there will be a clinic with an adjudicator. Family and friends are always encouraged to follow the band into the clinic room to hear the comments and constructive criticism. CONCERT BAND - Please bring $5 for pizza dinner/hang with Tetzlaff Middle School, followed by watching the Wind Ensemble. WIND ENSEMBLE - Eat before you arrive.
SCSBOA BAND FESTIVAL - THURSDAY 3/24
On Thursday, March 24th, the Wind Ensemble will be performing at SCSBOA Band Festival at Bellflower High School! Call time is 7:00PM in the Band Room to bus to Bellflower HS (eat dinner and change into all black concert attire after school). We warm up at 8:30PM, perform at 9:00PM, and have a clinic at 9:30PM. Parents, friends, and family are welcome to join us to watch the performance and clinic! We should be back to Gahr at approximately 10:30PM to unload and dismiss.
