FRESHMAN FITNESS EXAM
All 9th graders will be taking the freshman fitness test this week during their band, percussion, or color guard final. Please wear athletic clothing & shoes, eat breakfast, and hydrate the day before. This is part of the requirement to receive PE credit.
CITY OF CERRITOS RECOGNITION THIS THURSDAY 1/28!
The Cerritos City Council will be recognizing the students of the Gahr Marching Gladiators this Thursday, January 28th at 7:00PM! Family, friends, and alumni are encouraged to join us and celebrate our incredible students' achievement! Cerritos City Hall is located at 18125 Bloomfield Ave, Cerritos, CA 90703. Next week, the ABCUSD School Board will be recognizing us on Tuesday, February 2nd at 7:00PM.
2016 DISTRICT HONOR BAND
Thank you so much to all the parents and students who helped with honor band auditions, and congratulations to the 23 Gahr HS students who made it! HONOR BAND STUDENTS: We are pulling the tune "Journey Through Orion" and adding the piece "Blessed Are They." There is a sectional this Thursday, January 28th from 2-4PM. Work out a carpool in advance, eat lunch, and arrive early to find the band room and set up.

There are three Tuesday rehearsals from 6:30-9PM at Whitney HS leading up to the concert: 2/2, 2/9, and 2/16. The concert is Thursday, February 18th at 7:00PM @ Whitney HS. Keep practicing your music! This is shaping up to be a great group!

DISTRICT BAND FESTIVAL 3/16
The Gahr High School concert ensembles will be performing on Wednesday, March 16th at the ABCUSD Band Festival at Whitney High School. Our Concert Band performs at 5:00PM and the Wind Ensemble performs at 7:00PM. Admission is free! Please come support our wonderful musicians. The student call time is 1 hour before the performance time - with your instrument, music, and wearing all black concert attire. Please arrange for carpooling to Whitney HS.
WINTER GUARD "GO FUND ME"
We need to raise $1,200 to purchase a new guard floor! THIS FUNDRAISER ENDS THIS FRIDAY. The money will be used to buy a heavy-duty vinyl tarp that our color guard performs on for competitions. Our 2016 show theme is all about computers & circuit boards. By getting the tarp digitally-printed, we will be able to create a captivating and detailed floor design that will enhance our production and allow the vision of our instructors to come to life! 2:30pm - Arrive at Valencia HS, unload truck, use restrooms
2:45pm - Sectional tuning, stretch, warmups
3:30pm - Full Ensemble

4:00pm - Final run
4:05pm - Move to gate

4:24pm - Performance Time!
4:30pm - Move equipment back to truck, debrief, change, load, eat dinner
