BOOSTER PARENT UPDATE
The boosters have some great fundraisers and fun events coming up to raise money for the Winter Guard, Indoor Percussion, and Band. PARENTS: We need your help on the following dates: Tuesday & Wednesday, January 19th & 20th for Honor Band auditions; Saturday, January 30th for our ZUMBATHON fundraiser; and Friday, February 12th for our Drumline Spaghetti Dinner. Our next booster meeting is Wednesday, February 3rd at 6:30PM in the Band Room.
GAHR MARCHING GLADIATORS RECOGNITION!
The Gahr Marching Gladiators will be recognized once again by the ABCUSD School Board and the Cerritos City Council for our outstanding accomplishment of being named the 2015 California State Band Grand Champions! The City of Cerritos will be recognizing us on Thursday, January 28th at 7:00PM at the Cerritos City Hall (18125 Bloomfield Ave, Cerritos, CA 90703). We are still finalizing the board meeting date for the ABCUSD recognition. Family, friends, and alumni are welcome to join us and celebrate our incredible students' achievement!
ABCUSD HONOR BAND AUDITIONS
High School Honor Band auditions are Tuesday, January 19th (woodwinds) and Wednesday, January 20th (brass & percussion), running from 5-8PM both days at Gahr High School. We need parent and student volunteers both days to help students with check-in and to assist the adjudicators. All Wind Ensemble students AND anyone planning to audition needs to be at rehearsal this Wednesday, January 13th from 3-5PM. Good skill :)
DRUM-A-THON THIS SATURDAY 1/16
This Saturday (1/16) is our DRUM-A-THON Fundraiser! Our goal is to raise a MINIMUM of $150 per student. Money, collected as sponsorships, will be used to help pay for instructional staff, show design, SCPA/ADLA show fees, and all the nuts and bolts we need to keep our organization running. Place all cash, checks, and tally sheet into an envelope. Write your name on it (this will ensure you get credit for it) and turn it in at the DRUM-A-THON practice (Saturday, January 16th) as you enter the Band Room. Checks should be made payable to “Gahr Band Boosters." It is entirely possible to raise $200 to $1,000 per person with this fundraiser. If you get 5 sponsors at $5.00 per hour, you've already collected $225.00!
WINTER GUARD "GO FUND ME"
We need to raise $1,200 to purchase a new guard floor! The money will be used to buy a heavy-duty vinyl tarp that our color guard performs on for competitions. Our 2016 show theme is all about computers & circuit boards. By getting the tarp digitally-printed, we will be able to create a captivating and detailed floor design that will enhance our production and allow the vision of our instructors to come to life!
