1. AREA CONCERT THIS WEDNESDAY!
The Area Concert is this Wednesday, May 15th at 7:00PM in the Gahr High School Gym! This is fun evening with performances from our feeder elementary schools, Ross, Haskell, Tetzlaff, and Gahr. The Gahr Combined Band will be performing music from Black Panther and Indiana Jones! Admission is free, but bring extra cash because we'll have food, merch, and raffle tickets! Students have mandatory rehearsals on Monday from 3-5PM and Tuesday from 3-5:30PM to prepare for the concert. Call time for the concert on Wednesday is 5:45PM in all black concert attire.
2. CHICK-FIL-A THIS THURSDAY!
Join us this Thursday, May 16th for a family dinner night at Chick-fil-A in the Los Cerritos Mall! Eat at Chick-fil-A anytime from 6:30AM-9PM with a flyer and help support the band and color guard program. This will be our last restaurant fundraiser for the school year. Help spread the word!!
3. GIFT BASKET RAFFLE!
The gift baskets are now on display in the Band Room! Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Edwards, we are now offering an additional basket to bid on - a complete set of Funko Pop! Avengers: Infinity War Chrome Gold figures! This includes 10 of the Avengers in gold chrome, as well as a commemorative Stan Lee figure. Send cash with your student to purchase tickets from Mr. Loney. You can also purchase tickets at the Gahr Area Concert on Wednesday.

The opportunity drawing for the "Disney Star Wars" basket will take place this Wednesday evening, May 15th at the Gahr Area Concert. The drawing for the rest of the gift baskets will take place on Thursday, May 30th at our end-of-year "Concert in the Quad." You do not need to be present at either concert to win; just make sure you've written your name and phone number on all your tickets.
4. OUTSTANDING DONATIONS
Make sure all outstanding donations and obligations for marching band, drumline, and guard have been turned in. Students will not be able to go to the banquet or graduate without meeting these financial obligations. Please turn in cash, checks made to "Gahr Band Boosters," or pay online here.
5. SENIOR GRADUATION STOLES
Please turn in $40 to Mr. Loney for your embroidered graduation stole if you haven't yet. These will be embroidered and given out at the Awards Banquet.
6. ATHLETIC CLEARANCE PACKETS DUE
Athletic Clearance Packets are due to Dulce in the front office. Make sure you've completed the physical and have gotten Mr. Loney's signature. The counselors will not add you into 7th period Marching Band or a band/guard/percussion class without having turned in the packet. We're gearing up for another incredible year and want you to be a part of it!
7. END-OF-YEAR AWARDS BANQUET!
Our annual Awards Banquet is Sunday, June 2nd at 1PM at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts! We’re celebrating another incredible year for the Gahr High School Instrumental Music Program! The banquet is $25 per person (including students) and includes a catered lunch. RSVPs and money are due no later than Tuesday, May 28th in the drop box OR you can RSVP online. Thank you!
8. COLOR GUARD AND PERCUSSION WORKSHOPS NEXT WEEK!
Color Guard and Percussion Workshops run Tuesday-Thursday, May 21-23 from 3:30-5:30PM at the Gahr High School Band Room! Students will receive basic training and we will be setting our 2019 color guard, battery, and front ensemble. No experience is required, so bring a friend to check it out!
9. 2019-2020 STUDENT LEADERSHIP
Applications are now available for student who are interested in becoming student leaders for the 2019-2020 music program! We're gearing up for an incredible season and are looking for students with strong initiative who want to lead the Gahr Marching Gladiators to the next level. Students will need to schedule and complete a leadership sectional. Make sure you schedule a date/time for the section you're working with AND Mr. Loney. Leadership Interviews are Friday, May 24th.
10. "CONCERT IN THE QUAD" ON MAY 30TH
Our End-of-Year "Concert in the Quad" is Thursday evening, May 30th! We'll have food starting at 5:30PM and the concert starts at 6:30PM. Come out for some great, live music from the Jazz Band and concert bands! The concert will be located outdoors in the 2nd quad on the Gahr High School campus. We will have some chairs set up, but please feel free to bring your own lawn chairs and blankets. STUDENTS: We will have our final rehearsals on Tuesday, May 28th and Wednesday, May 29th.
11. HAWAII UPDATE
We're gearing up for a fun and memorable adventure to the Aloha State! This will be Gahr's EIGHTH TIME traveling to Hawaii and will highlighted by a performance at the USS Bowfin, resting in the heart of the historic waters of Pearl Harbor and proving a symbolic connection from the “day which will live in infamy” to the formal ending of World War II. The band will also get a music workshop at the University of Hawaii!

12. DRUM CORPS AT THE ROSE BOWL
On Saturday, June 29th, a large group of us will be carpooling to see drum corps LIVE at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena! If you like watching marching bands, this will blow you away!! Group tickets are just $20/person. Please get your money to Mr. Loney ASAP! Click here for more info about the event.
