Congrats on a great first football game performance! Thank you so much to all the parents who volunteered at the game and who helped make concessions a success. We have a full week of rehearsal and an important Saturday rehearsal from 8:30AM-5PM as we continue learning our 2017 field show production! Students must wear a hat, athletic clothes, athletic/tennis shoes (no sandals or converse), sunscreen, and bring a 1-gallon water jug to all rehearsals. You may keep these items in your cubby during school. Make sure you're hydrating 24 hours ahead of time, eating breakfast & lunch, and getting rest.

UNIFORM SEWING PARTY TUESDAY!
On Tuesday, August 29th we will be having a uniform sewing party from 6-8PM in the Drama Room (right next to the Band Room). We will teach you everything you need to know! No experience is required. See you there!


KICK-OFF BOOSTER MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY!
Come to our Booster Kick-Off Meeting this Wednesday, August 30th at 6:30PM in the Band Room! 
While fundraising is a major part of what the boosters do, it is not the sole purpose of the organization. Our band booster organization is one of the few ways you can be actively involved in your child’s high school education. We have a great group of booster parents, and meetings are welcoming, efficient, and fun!


2ND PAYMENT DUE THIS THURSDAY
The 2nd payment of $125 is due Thursday, August 31st in the Drop Box. Checks are made payable to "Gahr Band Boosters." If you are making a cash payment, please get a receipt from Mr. Loney before turning it into the Drop Box. You can also make a payment online here. We cannot pay our instructional staff or for field show competitions without your donation. ​Please communicate with Mr. Loney if you have any issues with your financial obligation. Thank you.

If you are a new student (or a returner who needs a replacement item), complete the Marching Band Order Form and turn in payment. You may also order additional t-shirts, polos, hoodies, and jackets for friends and family. Winds, Battery, and Front Ensemble members need to have black Marching Band Shoes and a Gahr Marching Gladiators Hoodie. Everyone in the Color Guard is required to have jazz shoes, guard gloves, body tights, and the embroidered tracksuit. ALL ORDERS & PAYMENT ARE DUE THIS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST. Many of these items can be reused year after year if kept in good condition.

POPCORNOPOLIS UPDATE
We are still waiting on the shipment of Popcornopolis. We will most-likely be handing out orders for distribution after rehearsal on Tuesday evening. Thank you for your patience.


NORMAL 7TH PERIOD MARCHING BAND SCHEDULE
Rehearsals start on time, so use the restroom and change immediately after school. Make sure you bring dinner to eat before Tuesday night practices. The normal weekly practice schedule is as follows:
  • Mondays 3:00-5:00PM
  • Tuesdays 5:00-8:15PM
  • Thursdays 3:00-5:00PM
  • Fridays 3:00-4:15PM*
*If there is a football game on Friday, the entire Gahr Marching Gladiators will warm up and run the field show from 3:00 - 4:15 p.m. If there is no football game, the Gahr Marching Gladiators Pep Band (all winds and rhythm section) will have a pep band rehearsal from 3:00 - 4:15 p.m. in the Band Room. Bring flip folders & lyres!
**Rehearsals start and end at the scheduled time. Please allow up to 15-20 minutes for students to put away equipment and walk back, depending on the instrument they play and the rehearsal location.

Congrats on a great Band Camp and the Sneak Preview Concert last Thursday! Thank you to all the families who attended Friday's Beach Party & Bonfire! A HUGE thank you to our incredible booster parents who helped run band camp lunches, uniform fitting, the car wash, the Band Camp BBQ, and the Beach Bonfire! If you missed out on the fun, come to our Kick-Off Booster Meeting next Wednesday, August 30th to find out what we need help with!


AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSALS START TOMORROW!
Our first after school marching band rehearsal is tomorrow, Thursday, August 24th from 3-6PM. Bring a change of clothes/shoes, hat, instrument/equipment, and water jug. Rehearsals start on time, so use the restroom and change immediately after school. The normal weekly schedule is as follows:

FIRST HOME FOOTBALL GAME THIS FRIDAY!
Our first Home Football Game is this Friday, August 25th, in the Gahr High School Stadium! In addition to playing in the stands, we will be performing all of Movement 1 and 2 (memorized). Continue to stay healthy by hydrating, eating at least three meals a day, and getting rest. WINDS: You must have a FLIP FOLDER (organized) and INSTRUMENT LYRE for the game. We will have a Memorization Test on the Star-Spangled Banner and Movement 1 and 2 of the field show.


POPCORNOPOLIS UPDATE!
Thank you to everyone for participating in the Popcornopolis fundraiser! Together, the band and color guard raised over $8,000! Congratulations to Danae who sold over 90 bags, earned over $900 in profit, and will win an additional $50 Visa gift card!! Because we sold so much popcorn, the shipping is going to take us a week longer than we had anticipated. Sorry for the inconvenience. We will have an updated ETA soon.

Arrive early to pick up your new schedule in the morning. Please see Mr. Loney at snack/lunch if you are missing a class during the school day or 7th period marching band.

Take your instrument/equipment home over the weekend. Practice and memorize your music with a metronome, and work on your marching/choreography. We still have A LOT to learn before our first field show competition!

Great work this past week band & color guard! Thank you to all the parents who came to our Parent/Student Meeting on Monday and who have volunteered to help make this year's program a success. We would also like to thank the parents who donated and served lunch to the students this week! Lastly, thank you to the students and parents who supported our "Gahr Wash" on Saturday. THANK YOU!!
 
BAND CAMP SNEAK PREVIEW CONCERT & BBQ THURSDAY 8/17
Come to our Band Camp BBQ & Sneak Preview Concert this Thursday, August 17th! See what your student has been working on and get a preview of our 2017 field show production, "CONSPIRACY THEORY." Just $5 per person includes a hamburger/cheeseburger, baked beans, potato salad, cookie, and a drink. Anyone eating at Thursday's BBQ needs to pay $5 (including students). Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 6:30 p.m. at the GHS Spirit Stage (the outdoor stage in the quad with a Gladiator mural). RSVPs AND MONEY ARE DUE TOMORROW, MONDAY, AUGUST 14TH. ​Band Camp continues this week! 
Students must bring a 1-gallon water jug and wear athletic clothes, athletic/tennis shoes (no sandals or converse), sunscreen, and a hat. ​​Eat a good breakfast and arrive early. If you have not turned in the following forms or the $150 Band Camp Deposit, please bring it on Monday. It is critical that all donations are turned in on time. We cannot pay our instructional staff or register for competitions without your contribution. Please communicate with Mr. Loney if you have any issues with your financial obligation.

GAHR HIGH SCHOOL REGISTRATION - TUESDAY 8/15
All students in the Gahr Marching Gladiators have school registration this Tuesday, August 15th at 6:45AM - DO NOT BE LATE (ignore your normal registration day/time by grade level). Please have all of your forms ready to turn in, as well as $55 for an ASB Card and $50 for transportation. Students will also be getting their yearbook photo taken, so dress nicely! After you finish registration, come directly to the Band Room to get fitted for a uniform. PLEASE ALLOW ANY PARENTS WHO ARE HELPING WITH UNIFORM FITTING TO THE FRONT OF THE REGISTRATION LINE. Once you finish uniform fitting, you have the rest of the morning off before rehearsal at 1PM. Please note that the boosters will NOT be providing lunch on Tuesday.


POPCORNOPOLIS FUNDRAISER DUE FRIDAY 8/18
All Popcornopolis orders and money are due this Friday, August 18th. ALL STUDENTS MUST SELL A MINIMUM OF 8 BAGS. The profit from all bags sold thereafter will go to student accounts. Please make checks payable to "Gahr Band Boosters." As a bonus, the student who sells the most bags will win a $50 Visa Gift Card! Thank you for your support.
