![]() Congrats on a great Band Camp! Thank you to all the families who attended Friday's Beach Party & Bonfire! A HUGE thank you to our incredible booster parents who helped run band camp lunches, uniform fitting, the car wash, the Band Camp BBQ, and the Beach Bonfire! If you missed out on the fun, come to our Kick-Off Booster Meeting this Wednesday to find out what we need help with! FIRST HOME FOOTBALL GAME THIS FRIDAY! Our first Home Football Game is this Friday in the Gahr High School Stadium! In addition to playing in the stands, we will be performing all of Mvt. 1 and Mvt. 2. Continue to stay healthy by hydrating, eating at least three meals a day, and getting sleep once school starts. WINDS: You must have your flip folder (organized) and instrument lyre for the game. Mr. Loney has flip folders and lyres available for $5 each. We will have a Memorization Test this week on the Star-Spangled Banner, Fight Song, and Movement 1 and 2 of the field show. AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSALS START TOMORROW! Our first after school marching band rehearsal is tomorrow, Monday, August 29th from 3-5:30PM. Bring a change of clothes/shoes, hat, instrument/equipment, and water jug. Rehearsals start on time, so use the restroom and change immediately after school. The normal weekly practice schedule is as follows:
**Rehearsals start and end at the scheduled time. Please allow up to 15-20 minutes for students to put away equipment and walk back, depending on the instrument they play and the rehearsal location. As with every practice, students must wear athletic clothes, athletic/tennis shoes (no sandals or converse), sunscreen, a hat, and bring their equipment and a 1-gallon water jug. Make sure you eat and hydrate. Students may use their assigned cubby to keep a change of clothes, shoes, water, etc. MARCHING BAND ORDERS DUE THIS FRIDAY If you are a new student or a returner who needs a replacement item, please use the following order form. You may also order additional t-shirts, polos, hoodies, and jackets for friends and family. Winds, Battery, and Front Ensemble members are required to have black Marching Band Shoes, a Gahr Marching Gladiators Hoodie, and an embroidered Gahr Band Polo Shirt. All Color Guard members are required to have jazz shoes, guard gloves, the embroidered jacket, and sweatpants. ALL ORDERS & PAYMENT ARE DUE THIS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND. Many of these items can be reused year after year if kept in good condition. ![]()
UNIFORM SEWING PARTY TUES NIGHT! This Tuesday, August 30th we will be having a uniform sewing party from 6:00-8:00PM in the Drama Room (right next to the Band Room). We will teach you everything you need to know. No experience is required! KICK-OFF BOOSTER MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY! Come to our Booster Kick-Off Meeting this Wednesday, August 31st at 6:30PM in the Band Room! While fundraising is a major part of what the boosters do, it is not the sole purpose of the organization. Our band booster organization is one of the few ways you can be actively involved in your child’s high school education. We have a great group of booster parents and meetings are welcoming, efficient, and fun! FAN CLOTH FUNDRAISER! During Band Camp we started a fundraiser called "Fan Cloth," that features name-brand, quality apparel designed specifically for Gahr High School and the Gahr Marching Gladiators! Your student should have a catalog that they can help sell to earn money for the band program. We extended Fan Cloth through this school week. The last day to turn your order forms and money in is this Friday, September 2nd. THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE: MONDAY 8/29 1st Day of School! No Jazz Band 3:00-5:30PM Rehearsal (All students in Gahr Marching Gladiators) Make sure you bring a change of clothes/shoes, your hat, and water jug for every rehearsal. TUESDAY 8/30 6:44AM 1st Jazz Band Rehearsal! AFTER SCHOOL: Do your homework, EAT, and hydrate. The Gahr Marching Gladiators always stay until the end of the game to support our school and team. Please have your student call you for pick-up or get Remind text messages. Take all instruments/equipment home over the three-day weekend. Practice/memorize your music with a metronome and work on your marching/choreography.
