Drum Corps at the Rose Bowl 7/1/17

We hope you're excited about seeing tomorrow's "Drum Corps at the Rose Bowl" show! We have over 80 people who bought group tickets to this year's show.

There are two options to pick up tickets tomorrow, Saturday, July 1st from Mr. Loney:
1. We'll be meeting for lunch at 1:30PM at Denny's in the Long Beach Towne Center - 11605 E Carson St, Lakewood, CA 90715. Please bring CASH to pay for your own meal.
2. You can meet Mr. Loney in the Gahr HS parking lot by the Band Room from 3:00-3:30PM. Please do not be late because you will want to leave enough time to get to Pasadena with traffic, park, and get through security into the stadium.

IF YOU ARE A STUDENT WHO BOUGHT A SINGLE TICKET, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR A RIDE TO/FROM THE ROSE BOWL!

Gold Drum and Bugle Corps opens the show, and they have 60+ brass players this year! You won't want to miss their performance, so be sure to get to the stadium by 4:45 pm to allow time to park and get to your seats in time.

Great Job at Band & Percussion Workshops!

​Congratulations Band & Percussion on a great two days of workshops! We had a great turnout with nearly 100 students participating. Thank you so much to all the booster parents who helped check in students and serve ice cream. We are very excited about the potential of this year's group and our 2017 field show production, "CONSPIRACY THEORY."

TWO GREAT WAYS TO RAISE MONEY:
- Field Show Program Ads - Earn 100% of the profit from all field show ad sales. The ad prices range from $25 to $175. Many local businesses are looking for ways to advertise to the community. Some parents have already sold over four ads for next year's program!
- Student Sponsorship Letter - 100% of the money sponsorships goes directly to your student account. These take a few hours to complete and mail out, but the return on investment is HUGE if you can make $400-500! This is a great way your family and loved ones can help support. NEXT STEPS:
- Make sure you've turned in your completed Athletic Clearance Packet to Dulce in the front office.
- Get your band camp gear: 1-gallon water jug, sunscreen, athletic clothing and shoes, hat (no visors), black 3-ring binder with sheet protectors.
- Make your first payment of $150.00 to “Gahr Band Boosters.” You can put it in the Drop Box in the Band Room or mail it to Gahr Instrumental Music, 11111 Artesia Blvd., Cerritos, CA 90703. You can pay this online.
- Practice your warm ups, field show music, and wind audition packet. The summer is also a great time to start taking private music lessons to get ahead!

​IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. COLOR GUARD: Next week we have color guard mini-camp Tuesday-Thurday, June 27th-29th from 1PM-8PM each day. If you or a friend missed the workshops at the beginning of June, it's not too late to come check it out! Our color guard booster parents will have lunch available for $5 per day:
- Tuesday: Pizza and drinks
- Wednesday: Subway Sandwich, chips and drinks
- Thursday: Chicken, potato salad, rolls and drinks 
Please bring $15 on Tuesday for all three days. Thank you!

2. BATTERY & FRONT ENSEMBLE: Next week we have rehearsals on Wednesday and Thursday from 1-5PM each day. Please have your warms and music ready to go so we can make some progress! Battery - You also have a Tuesday evening practice from 5-8PM.

3. See Drum Corps LIVE at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Saturday, July 2nd! If you like watching marching bands, this will blow you away! Group tickets are just $20/person and can be purchased from Mr. Loney. Click here for more info about this event.

4. If you still need to check out an instrument for the summer, turn in the signed Instrument Rental Form and $35 rental donation. You can pay this on the website here. The Band Room will be open next week Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1PM-8PM if you need to check out a school instrument.

Band & Percussion Workshops Continue Tomorrow!

Congratulations on a great first day at Band & Percussion Workshops! We had nearly 100 students participate and saw great progress in the winds, battery, and front ensemble - especially with our incoming freshmen!

Band & Percussion Workshops continue tomorrow, Thursday, June 22nd from 5-8PM in the Gahr High School Band Room (703). Please arrive early to check-in and get a name tag. After rehearsal we will have an ice cream social! 🍦 If you have any friends missed the first day and still want to join, they must attend tomorrow to receive a spot in our 2017 field show production, "Conspiracy Theory."

Reminders:
- If you want to borrow a school instrument for summer, please bring the signed Instrument Rental Form (yellow paper) and $35 rental donation tomorrow. We accept check, cash, or pay with a credit card on our website here. Checks are always made payable to, "Gahr Band Boosters."
- All students must complete an Athletic Clearance Packet to be enrolled in the marching band, due by June 26th. Pick up the paperwork ASAP from the front office during school business hours (8AM-2PM) from Dulce Caldwell. You will need to complete a physical that can be done at a walk-in clinic for around $15.
- On Saturday, July 1st, a large group of us will be going to see drum corps LIVE at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena! So far we have over 70 people going. If you like watching marching bands, this will blow you away!! Click here for more info about this drum corps show. Group tickets are just $20/person, and the last day to get DCI tickets from Mr. Loney is tomorrow.
- If you are a Color Guard student, your next rehearsal is our mini-camp next week on June 27-29th from 1-8PM each day. You will have an hour break for dinner during these three days.
