Gahr Marching Gladiators
The Gahr Marching Gladiators are Gahr High School's award-winning marching band that travels and competes throughout Southern California. The Gahr Marching Gladiators are one of the hardest working student organizations at GHS. This prestigious group is comprised of young musicians and dancers that develop and perform a field show for competition. These students share a passion for performing and strive for excellence. All students must enroll in the Marching Band (Course #1720) in order to participate in other ensembles at Gahr High School.
All band, percussion, and color guard members MUST attend summer band camp to be admitted into the field show for the fall semester. Let Mr. Loney know at once if this is a problem. We perform shortly after the school year starts, and it is very difficult to catch up after missing 100 hours of instruction!
In order to pay for our summer instructors and field show materials, there is a $150 Band Camp Deposit due during the summer. We are unable to run the Band Camp without these funds. If you have difficulty making this donation, please speak to Mr. Loney ASAP.
All students must bring a 1-gallon water jug and wear a hat, tennis shoes, and athletic clothing. Students without these items will be sent home for safety reasons. Go to bed early and hydrate before each day of Band Camp. The Gahr Marching Gladiators run on time, so arrive early with all necessary materials.
Each student in the program is asked to contribute $525 for the fall season. This helps pay for operating expenses, including instructional staff, instruments and equipment, tournament entry fees, music copyrights, and much, much more. This donation can be paid all at once, or can be broken down into a payment schedule. It is crucial to have your donation in by each due date so that we can pay our instructional staff on time. Please make all checks payable to "Gahr Band Boosters." You can also make payments online.
All winds will be evaluated for ensemble placement (Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Jazz Band). Students will be asked to play rhythms, your 12 major scales, and a prepared etude. Remember, attitude and improvement are also a factor! Percussionists will be assigned to perform with either Concert Band or Wind Ensemble based on their abilities.
