This week we have our first competitions for both Winter Guard and Jazz Band! Both groups have been working very hard and we are excited to be representing Gahr. If you are not in these ensembles, please come out to support them on Saturday!!

We have a full rehearsal week as we prepare for the Mayfair Jazz Festival this Saturday. We have a 9:00AM Call Time at the Mayfair High School MPR (6000 Woodruff Ave, Lakewood, CA 90713). Make sure you have your all black concert attire (solid black, collared, long-sleeve, button up dress shirt, black slacks, black socks, black dress shoes) and jazz band tie. Practice all four of your jazz charts and listen to the recordings, including Mr. Papi:

This Saturday is our first competition at the WGASC Orange County Invitational located at Huntington Beach High School (1905 Main St., Huntington Beach CA, 92648). ALL PARENTS ARE EXPECTED TO HELP WITH EQUIPMENT AND TAKE/CARPOOL STUDENTS. DO NOT ASSUME YOUR STUDENT HAS A RIDE.
The 3rd payment of $125 was due last Friday for the Winter Drumline and the Indoor Percussion Ensemble. If you did not get this in, please turn it in ASAP to the Band Room Drop Box. As a reminder, checks are made payable to "Gahr Band Boosters" and we also accept credit/debit cards through PayPal. This is vital for us to be able to purchase costumes, pay for competition fees, purchase materials and equipment, and pay for our instructional staff. If you do not know your current balance or need to work out a payment plan, please email treasurer Karen Kusumi or president Dee Dee Varney.

JAZZ BAND - AFTER SCHOOL TAKE HOME ALL INSTRUMENTS, MUSIC, AND EQUIPMENT (cables, mutes, sticks, reeds, etc.). WE WILL NOT BE MEETING AT GAHR IN THE MORNING!
MAYFAIR JAZZ FESTIVAL
Make sure you take your instrument, music, and equipment (cables, mutes, sticks, reeds, etc.) home after school on Friday! We will be meeting directly at Mayfair. Lay out your all black concert attire + jazz tie the day before. Hydrate and eat a big breakfast. Performances start at 8:00AM in the MPR if you want to arrive earlier.

Show up with your instrument and music wearing your all black concert attire and jazz tie. We will be staying to watch Cerritos College and for awards. Bring money for lunch after the performance & clinic.

WGASC ORANGE COUNTY INVITATIONAL
10:29am- CALL TIME - DO NOT BE LATE. Eat a good breakfast before you arrive. Meet at Gahr High School IN UNIFORM, shoes, hair and makeup done. Load floor, props, equipment.
11:30am- Carpool to Huntington Beach High School (1905 Main St., Huntington Beach CA, 92648).
ALL PARENTS ARE EXPECTED TO HELP WITH EQUIPMENT AND TAKE/CARPOOL STUDENTS. DO NOT ASSUME YOUR STUDENT HAS A RIDE.
12:30pm- Arrive at HBHS. Unload floor, props, and equipment. Use restroom in groups of 2 or more.
12:45pm- Line up and wait for De'Vaughn at guard check in. Proceed to warm up area.
1:00pm- Warm up.
2:25pm- Walk to performance entrance
(After the performance members must exit the gym, quickly fold the floor and organize equipment as the following group will be exiting the performance area and folding their floor. Parent volunteers needed to lift floor and take it outside.)
3:15pm- Talk, pack up props and equipment, load. During this time eat, relax and watch your competitors. Please remember you are representing your school at all times. We are a class act on and off the floor.
5:50pm- Awards Ceremony - As always, sit as a group. Remember, do not worry about the score or the placement. It is always okay to cheer and clap for Gahr and support our students!
6:15pm- Depart for Gahr High School. Once arrived, unload floor, props, equipment. Dismissed.
